Vehicle Finance Calculator

Calculate your estimated monthly repayment and apply for finance online.

Tailor your car repayments to your finances.

Understanding your affordability for a car from your monthly income, allows you to calculate vehicle payments and get you on the road as quickly as possible. There are many levers you can pull to calculate car repayments that work with your budget, but make sure you understand what they all mean.

How to work out car repayments

How to calculate car payments and understand the effect on your budget and long term finances are important. Here’s a quick rundown on what the levers mean in the Vehicle Finance Calculator:

  • Vehicle Purchase Price: This is the price you’ll pay for the car you want, consider any additional fees
  • Paid Over: This is determined by your chosen contract term, such as 12, 36, 72 months. The period you choose, will affect your monthly car instalment, but remember the longer the period, the more interest paid
  • Deposit Amount: This is what you’ve saved to pay upfront. This will lower the money you need to borrow from the bank, which can lower your monthly instalment or help reduce your contract term
  • Interest Rate: This is the interest the bank will charge you for loaning you money and is decided by your credit profile and the current repo rate
  • Balloon Payment: This is a large payment that needs to be made at the end of the contract term, if you select to make a balloon payment, when you calculate instalments you can afford. This is not part of the financed amount you are borrowing from the bank.
