Technical Inspection and roadworthy test

If your application has been approved, we'll contact the seller to agree to the sale. The seller is obliged to do a Technical Inspection on the vehicle and a roadworthy test.

The rules for buying a car through a dealer or private sale

There are a few rules and regulations for obtaining finance through WesBank.
Make sure you meet the necessary requirements to avoid your application being rejected.

Car

The car you buy must:

  • For dealer finance, the vehicle must sold by a dealership approved by WesBank and be worth R30,000 or more.
  • For private finance, the vehicle must sold by a private seller (not a dealer or a manufacturer) and be worth R30,000 or more. The vehicle must be less than 20 years old (but can include classic cars - terms and conditions apply) and cannot be stolen or recovered (code 3).
Applicant

You as the applicant must:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Be a South African citizen or permanent resident
  • Have a valid driving licence
  • Have a clear credit record
  • Earn at least R6,250 per month

The finance application takes about 20 minutes to complete.

    Please note

  • As the buyer, you will need to pay the fees that are required to facilitate the transaction. You will also need to pay the fees for the vehicle to be registered in your name with WesBank as the titleholder.
  • A WesBank representative will meet with you to finalise and sign all necessary documents. To safeguard all parties, the representative will also need to view the original documents that were faxed or emailed to WesBank during the application process.
  • You will need to also give the WesBank representative a clear copy of your ID for registration purposes.
  • You are responsible for acquiring the licence disc. WesBank will only assist with registering your vehicle.
